These are the delicious cookies I made when we had our wonderful whiskey and chocolate tasting last week. I read that chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven are incredibly good with whiskey. So we just had to try it 🙂
I love these cookies because they pack a healthy oatmeal punch, but also have a great cookie taste. They are wonderful by themselves, with milk and also go great with whiskey!
Country Oatmeal Cookies
¾ cup softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup white sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 cup rolled oats
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (raisins can be substituted)
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the first three ingredients in a medium bowl. Add the dry ingredients until combined. Drop spoonfuls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. Eat ’em up! YUM!
Hint: the outer rim of the cookie will brown, but it may not be brown in the center. Bring the cookies out of the oven to check for doneness.
If you would like a crispier cookie, toast the oats on a cookie sheet before combining with the other ingredients.
