Chocolate and Salmonella

There have been quite a few recalls lately for chocolate in relation to salmonella.  Dunkin Donuts pulled their hot chocolate and Godiva just recalled their pricey G collection gift sets, which are usually sold for Valentines and Mothers Day.  They said the recall was precautionary, but kudos to them for taking that step.

Still, it makes you wonder about the ingredients in your food or in the gifts you are giving your family and friends.  You would think that an item like chocolate would be pretty safe to eat.  Reports like these remind us that’s it is important to pay attention to what you are putting in your body.

So it is good to know the products at Drexelius Chocolates are all natural and don’t contain any artificial flavors, fats, sweeteners or preservatives.  We list the ingredients right on the site just as they are printed on the label.  And (surprise!) you can pronounce the ingredients and count them on one hand.  The chocolate makers we carry are making the best chocolate using the finest ingredients available.  Here is a sampling of some ingredient lists you will find on the site (shown in full):

Cocoa beans, pure cane sugar, cocoa butter, whole vanilla beans

Cocoa beans, organic cane juice, cocoa butter

Cocoa, sugar, cocoa butter

Nothing scary about these items!  In fact, now I am ready for some delicious chocolate.  Check out the current selection at Drexelius Chocolates and enjoy chocolate the way it should be.  All natural, all the time.
