Snap, Crackle, Chocolate!

Chuao Firecracker Chocolate barThis past January at the Fancy Food Show, we discovered all kinds of new and tantalizing items to tease our palate.  Some were improved items from previous years, but other companies brought new ideas to the table.  This fresh approach is what we found at Chuao Chocolatier.

As we worked our way around the show, we tasted many chocolate bars, truffles and various other chocolate items.  This bar is one that we haven’t forgotten because it really leaves a unique impression.

Chuao Chocolatier is the first Venezuelan chocolatier in the United States.  Based in San Diego, California, they create wonderful fusion bars that pair unusual, exciting flavors with their secret blend of chocolate.  This particular bar is made with 60% chocolate, chipotle, a touch of salt and some popping candy (a la Pop Rocks).

The chocolate is smooth and creamy.  The salt is very delicate and does a great job balancing with the sweetness of the bar.  I have tasted my share of spicy chocolate and this bar has a nice heat that hits in the back of the throat, but doesn’t overpower so you can continue enjoying the bar.  You feel the roughness of the popping candy and the popping begins.  This is a really fun and tasty bar.  Buy it now from Drexelius Chocolates and enjoy the sweet heat and crazy crackling!
