Did you make some healthy New Year’s resolutions? Good for you! We’re keeping up with the healthy theme in February. Not only do we have Valentine’s Day to keep our tickers tocking, but the American Heart Association also stresses heart health during the same month. That’s being heart smart!
The AHA set a goal of reducing the death rates for heart disease and stroke by 25% by 2010. That goal was reached 2 years early. Right on! Let’s hear it for education, treatment and prevention 🙂 Now the AHA has set a new national goal: they want to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20% while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20% by the year 2020. That is a great goal and I’m sure it can be reached. Especially since food manufacturers and suppliers are all jumping on board the healthy wagon (finally!).
